Chicken Fried Bacon
To make chicken fried bacon I bought a 1 1/2 lb. package of thick-sliced, hickory-smoked bacon. Separate the slices you plan to cook. Cut them in half so they will fit in the pan better. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy skillet. In one dish beat an egg and add about 1/4 cup milk. In the other put some flour. Dip the half-slices of bacon in the egg mix then into the flour, then back to the egg and back into the flour and put the coated pieces into the hot oil in the skillet. I did this just as I would chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak. Let the bacon get golden brown and drain on paper towel. Make your favorite white gravy or whatever gravy you like and dip the pieces of bacon in and eat. You will smell the smoky flavor of the bacon when you take a bite. You will need to adjust the egg and flour to the amount of bacon you are cooking.
