... do I want a tablet? are there features w/a tablet to make certain software easier to use?

get one. you don't HAVE to use it when you don't want to.
you can have it hooked up and if you ever want to use the mouse you can just slide the tablet off to the side and use the mouse. it's not one or the other in usage.
as long as you don't rest the pen on top of the tablet when you move it away. i did it the first time and shit when the cursor kept flying back and forth (as the pen was still rocking side to side on the tablet).
i have a wacom. took a bit to get used to but it rocks.

Yes, you want a tablet. Or wait.. maybe I'm thinking of a maxi-pad. Yeah.
You don't want a tablet-they're pussy

at work i sometimes use a graphire a5. I find it very useful, although i'm not so skilled at draw.
I'm planning to buy it for myself, but it costs 240 euro :-(
(but i'll gladly pay the shipping for the one of designError)

I bought a intuos2 6x8 for $125 used. Pretty good price, but the novelty has sorta worn off..

I have a calcomp tablet its better than a wacom in line detail and pressure sensitivity
i plan on buying one of these sometime http://cgi.ebay.com/CALCOMP-DRAW…
36" x 48" active area
mmmm :)
- nick0
why would you want that big of an active area? i think the 9x12 is too big [too much arm movement] when going from one side of the screen to the next
