Philly - especially if you have a dog. I drive my car like once a week, we walk everywhere.

While so cal in general requires a car, Laguna Beach has amazing weather, has zero crime, and is completely walkable. Famous for its artistic roots (google 'pageant of the masters'), it's got free public transportation, if you don't want to walk, and it's close to all of the business in south OC.

yah definetely philly. Especially center/city and outlining areas. Very strong art/design community to. Penns Landing and South st also nice. Maybe not south st since its been becoming crappier every year.

I can't believe this thread has made it this long without someone yelling out CHICAGO!
You can live in there without a car no problem and there is such a huge art scene. It's the best. I imagine NY is like that but I've only been there for one day.

I've been thinking lately that Boston is a really cool city and I might want to go there. Perhaps I've been watching Crossing Jordan too much but it seems like Boston would be a great place to visit.

Portland, OR has it all.
I moved from SF & LA to Portland and it was the best move of my life. Great city, everything is close and accessible.

Would I be out of line if I said New York?
It's probably not true if you're outside of Manhattan though (Walking to work).

Somebody say Slough?
