Non-profit or commercial? you can find general ideas via the google search...

So many factors... like geography. I'm in SC... i'd get laughed out of the state if I tried to charge $100 hourly to a client. It's just not normal here, unfortunately.

there is also a sort of 'formula' to use if you want to go that direction

There are two topics on this now I'd advice you to make a project price based on your rate. When they ask you why you came up with that price you can tell them but it's often more convenient not to mention the hourly rate. These rates sound high but that's the way it works in the freelance business. Always multiply by a more hours than you think it will cost you to design it. Appointments take time and so do phonecalls, emails, preparing the invoices etc. Don't be too humble :).

I'm from nc, people will pay you what you're worth, or whatever you convince them what you're worth

$75 client
$50 agencythis is what i use to estimate a job but truth be known, clients always want the bottom line... they want a project cost. agencies are the only ones where you will really track and bill hours.
if you are trying to make a living at this, it is hard to charge less than $50/hour.

thank you all so much. it's interesting--i work for an agency and avg for people around here outside of work was between $35-50..but most said they worked backwards. i've only done small stuff up until this point freelance-wise and i appreciate all of your advice. thanks!

Would anyone have rates on for freelance programmer.
Mostly asp, jscript, sql, ....
thanks

Rates for freelance programmer can range anywhere from $25 to $200 and hour. Figure out your monetary needs and expenses vs your experience and what you can get away with charging in your area. Mulitply the rate X 2080 to figure out how much you need to get by per year.
