i took Witt from Wittgenstein.
Not because i think myself wittier than anyone, but because i believe Wittgenstein was right when he said that much of what we say (much of the history of philosophy) is based on confusion and some "war of concepts" and the impossibility of speech when we really mean different things.
maybe i'm heavy because of that principle, but i think it is a principle.
so i'm a troll, basically: those that have no meaning beyond the principle of meaning itself
oh ya.

it always throws me off when someone refers to my husband as "chris". i look around and wonder who they're talking about since i never shorten his name. he doesn't even like it, but tolerates it.

Oh, okay. I understand what you mean. Everything is done electronically now, as you know, including marks, registration, and inquiries. So less problems there.

it was like... teachers.. etc.. mistyping or mispelling my name.. transcripts and such.. back when a lot of stuff was done manually .. like hand written report cards that were then sent to administration to be typed up.
things were kinda getting screwed. it happened almost every year.

Yeah, now that I'm in university I don't really have a nickname like I did in high school. I miss having one too.
I agree that nicknames shouldn't be made up by the same person. They should be made up by other people in your life. Just makes it more real and fun.

oh...my uncle ed and my boss call me jason
- shellie0
it bothers me more when people who know they cant say it right insist on calling me that. when, they can just call me shellie.
theres a lot of people who switch back and fourth between two names, depending on who youre talking to.
my neighbor, errendita goes by eren to most except people who she knows speaks another latin based language.

my name is justin macnair
my family calls me "just" or "jus" or "jut"
high school i was "smokes" which became combined with my last name to become "mcsmokes" which i hated...then that turned into "mick" or "micks"
college and beyond back to plain old justin...i kinda miss having a nickname :(

Does it actually effect paperwork? Because almost everyone who doesn't know me pronounces my name incorrectly but it doesn't get screwed up in paperwork. Even if it does, no one seems to have my first or late name.
