I just think that if a girl is into you, she'll let you know.

and the ones aged 18-22 are the worst! believe me.

You're right. I've never been a girl, 18-22, so I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Show up at her house at 3 AM with a boombox blaring 'lady in red' in the one hand and a very large butcher knife in the other. Then burst into tears.
Trust me.

I'm in a some what similar situation as well. I use to work with another AD at my last job, but left for something better. She stayed in touch with me, but I wasn't as receptive because I was seeing some else at the time. Now that I been single for two months, I would IM her more on AIM but she wasn't as receptive. So I went about my business, and she calls me out of the blue saying she's now working at Publicis. So I try calling her again, we set up plans to hang out. Then she cancels on me saying she's going to Conn for a visit.
From reading this thread, I now see that she was testing me in the beginning, and it showed I wasn't really serious, and now it's too late.

Boz, i am sorry to say that she is not really interested in you..
sometimes girls want to be friendly, they are kind to everyone because they want to be liked by everyone.. so she didn't turn you down when you asked her out, but actually she is not interested in it..
girls would let you know if they like you, there are no "testings" at all..
you could keep the friendship if you want, i am sure she'd be happy have you as a freind but never think about going further or you'd be disappointed again..

she's not testing you. she just not interested. if a girl is into you as Brook said she will go out of her way to let you know it anything else and she's just not that into you.

Norika said it best, in my opinion.
It sucks that people are afraid to be upfront about how they really feel. But I have been in situations before where being honest meant hurting someone's feelings.
I think people get better about this with age, though. At least I hope they do. I know I have.

Or maybe I am totally wrong, who knows...

Personally, I try to be nice to everyone and I don't think I should be overly nice because it probably makes situations more confusing. Also, I never make the first move and hardly say anything about my feelings, which is also something I need to work on. I have issues expressing myself.
