true story
I lived for a year to this nice apartment block in quebec city and we would have to walk through a cemetary at night to go drink and party at the palladium (shitty whaling bar).sadly none of my rational atheist friends would get freaked out and would flat out refuse to go near it,
you know because ghost and shit, I can understand a religious person to be scared of ghost but the defenders of science, scared of the unknown, that's priceless,
anyways here's the link if you're ever in QC city
https://maps.google.com/maps?sad…- Atheists can't have irrational emotional responses like everyone?i_monk
- none of them were scared because they're rationalmonospaced
- how can you live with this dissonance, if I don't believe in a invisible manin the sky, why would I believe in invisible man on the groundGeorgesII
- at a cemetery,
makes no senseGeorgesII - How can you believe in only one god then? How can you have faith and use reason?i_monk
- That's just as dissonant.i_monk

I'm an agnostic atheist, yes. Because empirically, socially, personally, and every other -ly, I have no reason not to be. Do supernatural anthropomorphic beings exist, controlling nature? I doubt it; never been given a convincing reason to think they do.

@monospaced
How are you certain that there is no god.- scienceGeorgesII
- mostly because there's no need for him, but also because there's no evidence for himmonospaced
- him? or itantagonlsta
- him, it, whatevermonospaced
- No one's certain there is no god, it's just so totally improbable and pointless.zarkonite

@i_monk
You're an atheist? Can you defend your position without using religion or science?- the beauty of atheism is that it requires no defensemonospaced

If God existed, we wouldn't had spam on QBN.
- i_monk0
What "atheist argument"? There are plenty of arguments against religion/belief that have nothing to do with science.
- Morning_star0
@i_monk
Couldn't agree more. But, the atheist argument falls completely flat when science is no longer a stick to beat the theists with.- you're comparing apples to a molehill.albums
- and the religious one falls flat in any situationmonospaced

The funny thing is the only reason we can even perceive religion or experience the ability to follow a certain religious "belief" system" is because of consciousness and experience. Its a shame most people follow a religion without even questioning why they are following that religion or what they believe as a w|hole.
If people studied their conscious decisions and what the world has to offer through the individual experience the world would be a better place.

R. D. LaingII call God ECCO now. The Earth Coincidence Control Office. It's much more satisfying to call it that. A lot of people accept this and they don't know that they're just talking about God. I finally found a God that was big enough. As the astronomer said to the Minister, 'My God's astronomical.' The Minister said, 'How can you relate to something so big?' The astronomer said, 'Well, that isn't the problem, your God's too small!'"

"you're saying that believing "maybe" mythical powers exist is more sane than saying they don't at all?"
Did you know the 'proven' existence of the Higgs Boson is a maybe?
Did you know that the speed of light, a 'universal constant' fluctuates?
Given that these two fundamental 'truths' (according to scientists) are best guesses, 'maybe' seems appropriate.
Do you have free will?- I totally understand this, and I have "faith" that science will sort it out. But thinking a "god" controls this is not gonna happenmonospaced
- did you KNOW that science constantly questions itself? if you don't, then stop implying it doesn'tmonospaced
- monospaced did you know my "free will" will prevent gravity from affecting me if I refuse to believe it?albums

You're either an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist. One is a statement of knowledge (having or not having), the other of belief (having or not having).
