Excalibur wouldn't let me in, I tried while I was on rush street.

Please apologize to us for even trying to get in there. Don't you know that place is only for tourists?

dude, I am sorry. I ended up at the Whiskey Bar and Grill and ordered Jack and Cokes until I was feelin good. I went with my girlfriend and my Aunt and Uncle, so I didn't get any guff.
Sunday night was great. Who saw the fireworks? Michigan Ave and most of the outlet streets off of it for a mile or more was completely shutdown, devoid of cars...except for a few million people. Absolutely cool atmosphere. I love this town and all the people have that Midwestern Hospitality.
On the way back on W. Adams some dude cracked his head open in a 3 bike pileup. Blood eeeeverywhere!
We emptied 3 bottles of wine before the fireworks and joked around like idiots before the fireworks and afterwards too, wrestling in the hotel room like a bunch of children, me, my girlfriend, and my 30-something aunt/uncle acting like fools and having a hell of a time in this city.
Ah, Chicago, I'm gonna live there someday.

Glad you had a good time. :) I love living here and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Well, except Paris or something but that's easier said than done.

The fireworks are all around our apartment. We were just watching them from our porch.
If I didn't have this chest cold, I'd howl in the night.
I love this city.

My GF's building has a huge rooftop desk (12 story building) and we went up there to watch the fireworks as far as the eye could see.
Pretty cool, done similiar before from the parking garage of a Target store.
On a sidenote, not that war or bombings are good in any way, but when I see fireworks like that, I can't help but wonder what it must be like to be in Baghdad when the initial airstrikes took place. I just couldn't imagine watching that.
