It's sad that people are only treating Live8 as a concert

Maybe these are the only bands that are willing to donate their "talents"?
At least it's for a good cause.

or the only ones who agreed to become politicians and not performers.

Stevie Wonder....Black Eyed Peas w/Marleys....jay Z w/Linkin Park...Kanye West....a very solid lineup...
What better way to reach out to the genrerations though hip hop and popular music. You think 1 million people would show up for Kenny G and Faith Hill?

russia has forgiven 2.2 billion in debt and a total of 40 billion in debt is to be forgiven in total
i think that is alot better than the concert personally\
granted its debt forgiveness but it just opens the door to borrow money again i see it as a good thing

if you're going to complain about the bands - then you're missing the point completely...
... and as someone stated above - the generations of music this entails captures plenty of attention - because you're too intellectual (in your own fucking mind of course) to tolerate certain popular music goes to show really how much care you have for this necessary charity.

it disrespects the people its apparently for, lets all have a party for the poor folk !!!!- just doesnt make any sense
im gonna have an orgy in aid of the homeless and hungry, they of course will not be allowed to attend but i will have fun for them

there are some horrible bands on there, but there's some good bands i wouldn't mind seeing. of course, i'll be LEAVING the city for the weekend because me and 1,000,000 sweaty people probably won't get along too well.

I think he's right, except the "right wingers" part. It's leftist agricultural protectionism that keeps third world farmers incompetitive.

We almost had one here in Ottawa but because of Canada Day it got moved to Barrie, Ontario. People were just complaining on the news about how much traffic there'll be, and how they're going to stay out on their docks all day. Yeah, most people don't seem to understand the point of the event.
These are the headliners:
Presenters: Dan Aykroyd and Tom Green
Barenaked Ladies, Deep Purple, DMC, Gordon Lightfoot, Great Big Sea, Jann Arden, Jet, Motley Crue, Our Lady Peace, Sam Roberts, Simple Plan, Tegan & Sara, The Tragically Hip
