I think we should also solve the public transport problem by building teleportaion devices and I want to see us build wormholes to other planets as well, before we get down to the pesky business of sorting our one out, you know...

Bargain. And I'll bet the people of the Equator would love living without sunlight.

idiots. This idea makes me angry on so many levels. Like the fact that crops aren't going to survive on scattered light from hundreds of miles off. Or the fact that it completely ignore CONVECTION and the greenhouse effect.
What's worse is just how base the idea is. you can only imagine bush's old lady sitting under a large umbrella on a hot June day thinking...well, all the earth needs is a little shade to keep it cool, just like me!

this made me laugh
"Nevertheless, what the paper does show quite impressively is that our hyper-complex civilization is theoretically and technologically capable of dealing with any significant climate change we may potentially face in the future."
whoa! bully for us! everything will be OK cos we are capable of plundering science fiction books for hairbrained schemes which no bank in there right minds are ever going to chump up the change for. lol what a load of shite.

why don't we just come up with the 17689 trillion space credits it'll take to build a huge habitable hoop in space 14 million miles in circumference and house all the worlds poor, sick, and starving in a utopia of technology and safe recreational drugs?????
well? why not?????
