I'm trying to fit it in while I'm still freelancing. Consultation tomorrow. It's not as expensive as I thought & I'm so freaking excited.
Anyone else have this done? Anything I should be aware of? Any questions I should ask at my appointment?

i believe there was another thread about this in the past. after reading it, i was gonna wait a little more.
plus, wearing glasses or contact isn't that bad.

Some actress/comedian is progressively going blind in one of her eyes because of it. Evidently that's one of the unlikely side-effects.
And a friend had an issue with blurred vision because they didn't do it right the first time, months later, after the first one healed, they went back and fixed it. But she had to see things as one big blur for months.
Don't mean to scare ya, just sharing what i've seen, Brookster.

It can potentially fuck up the tissues in the lens of your eye, causing them to heal in a unpredictable way and distorting your vision. The radio wave method is supposed to eliminate that.

It doesn't really scare me too much. There are risks to everything, and side effects like gradual blindness are extremely rare. I feel really confident about it. The doctor I'm visiting has been preforming eye surgeries for 20+ years. Plus, there's a new, specialized procedure where they customize the results according to a new light-based map of your eye, giving you as close to 20/20 as you can get. $1299 per eye - not bad, in my opinion.

When I first started hearing about Lasik, I wondered how it would be for someone 10 - 15 years after the surgery. Seems that they wouldn't be able to confidently say what might happen with scar tissue and stuff.

1299 per eye. dang! is insurance going to cover it?
- driftlab0
Cool. GIT ER DONE! As they say here in the South. At least that's what they say on the back of the pickup trucks.

Three people very close to me that I know had it. No problems, no more glasses. One of them still uses glasses, but for decorative purpose :-)
Somday also I will do.

It's cosmetic, so no insurance will cover it. I don't care, though. I'm tired of being blind & feeling self-conscious in glasses. I found contacts to be very annoying, always shifting & going dry at the worst times.

Btw, it's only about $1500 total for the traditional laser surgery, but my eyes are worth the extra cost.

i have been thinking about this for a while now.
but i decided that i sometimes like to not be able to see everything clearly.
blurry is a good way to zone out from too much stimuli.

i guess somethings are just worth it. i had snore reduction surgery last year and that too was considered cosmetic but worth it for my wife's sake. it was a wedding gift from me to her.
side note: girls in glasses are hot. not a flirt. just a statement.

I'd say around 50% (possibly more) of people wear glasses or need them. I used to be self-conscious about it, but then I realized that glasses make me look good, and actually change my look a lot. I look fine without my glasses, but I actually feel good in them. I've learned to enjoy them. I have contacts but I haven't worn them in the longest time b/c they aren't comfortable. Apparently they have better contacts now, so maybe I'll check it out.
As for the surgery, I don't think there are many risks. I know people with horrible eyesight such as myself couldn't have it a few years ago, and apparently I can now.

It's official. This time tomorrow I will see all the way to China. The entire procedure takes only 15 minutes. I CAN'T WAIT!
By the way, I inquired about the 'gradual blindness" rumor, and indeed it is nothing more than a rumor.
"We wouldn't preform the surgery if it eventually caused people to go blind."
Hallelujah.
