I switched over to biodiesel fuel today. In case anyone is looking to get a new car here's a couple things to think about in terms of diesels:
You get about 45 miles per gallon or over 600 miles to a tank ( I'm running a little VW golf turbo )
Biodiesel is 100% renewable and has 0% greenhouse emissions.
You aren't buying fuel that comes from foreign sources anymore. War-free fuel.
The exhaust smells like someone is making popcorn o_O
If enough ppl switch, it's over for the oil pimps...
For more info:
http://www.biodieselnow.com/Willie Nelson sells it too:

good for you, hope it works out for you.

How practical is it?
- swampygav0
I need practicality, because if it's not easy then it's not happening. I'd rather die than have to lift a finger

it only runs with a diesel engine.
what rediculously low percentage rate is that of diesel engines in america?
i can think of only a small handfull of cars.
now farm equipment and trucks is another story.

this would mesh well with america's eating habits

I see kona, but between biodiesel, the prius and other hybrids, this is a step in the right direction.

Practicality isn't an issue. You can get regular diesel in most places, especially near highways...
And the percentage thing is true, not many ppl are buying diesels in the U.S. mainly because in the 80's it left a bad taste as they were kind of stinky and noisy. But those days are over. There's a good reason why more than 60% of the cars being sold in europe are diesel these days.

of course it is mrd. of course.
there are about 20 places in illinois that sell it.
the most you can get. b20 (20% biodiesel).
oh, and the hybrids are having problems. toyota is talking of raising it's prices on cars by 5000 dollars. reason being the 5000+ battery in the prius and other hybrids is statistically shitting the bed just after the warranty runs out. toyota customers are pissed. so toyota is now agreeing to replace the battery, which will cost them 5000 + the install. so for every step in the right direction we're taking 2 back.
b20 is a good start, but until a place drops b50 or higher were still using 80% oil. most of the places were b2 or b3. a joke.

I've been looking into this too. Having your own system in the garage can be a bit of an investment. Hopefully it will be at the pumps sometime soon.

altho, I prefer cockdiesel.

i have a '96 vw passat that runs on regular diesel.
it's good on mileage, i get about 45 to 46.
it's just a bit difficult to find stations that sell diesel, but there are a few near my house. it is about the same as high-octane gasoline but it is much better fuel economy.
also, diesel fuel is stinky and louder, but it is also better for the environment than gasoline, from what i understand.
someone sum up what biodiesel is and can i make my regular diesel car run on it? where do i buy it?

good going, mexist.

Good work, why aren't more(any?) suvs made for diesel.

anzelina. check the map for locations near you.
yes it will run right now on your engine but runs better and may unclog all the crap in your engine and clog your fuel filter. but it's good cause it is cleaning it.
b100 is the best. most places only sell b2 or b3 (2% and 3%)

until i can piss in my tank and run my car on it i'm not interested.
is that what cockdiesel is or is that with spermies?!?
