hi all.
im putting together my book, because im interested in packing up shop here in Sydney and coming over to the States for a while to work. naturally i have to sort out a VISA/Work Permit etc-- but i havent decided on a location.
i have strong feelings toward either Boston or New York (i have friends in both cities), and in this thread i want to request a bit of help in finding some Boston and/or NY agencies sites/contacts to look at so i can get an idea of who i can approach for work.
any suggestions are greatlly appreciated, and if you want to make it either in this thread or email me jeunesse(at)gmail(dot)com, that would be great too.
thankyou!!!

you can try http://www.firmlist.com to find agencies in both cities.
We don't know what your style is or what type of work you do. So it's hard for people to give out agencies that is suited for you.
There are lots of top notch agenices, bigspaceship, attik, aqka, etc.
You should click on Employment opp over on your left, lots of places hiring in NYC.

good point.
i do print work, environmental signage, wayfinding, branding and packaging design.

yeah, i looked at Employment, alot of that stuff is motion/interactive and im not skilled in those areas.

you can also try http://www.creativehotlist.com and search by location. NYC generally has lots of job posting. They have print, and industrial type design listings too.

i'd o somewhere in the south. the only overseas adventure you'll have in those two cities is how to pay your bills every month.

ok. you're good in my book.
in advance... welcome to the states.
ny people are a bit more um.... not friendly than boston people but you'll get around. job wise... ny for sure but it's a bit more expensive.
i'd hit up craigslist for apartments and creativehotlist for jobs.
good luck.

Sydney is like one big strip mall. Boring.
New York any day takes the cake over any major city in the world. If I could afford it I would be there in a heart beat.

yuppie college town? fuck off.
both places are crazy expensive, dunno how that compares to Sydney. New York obviously has more going on, both culturally and on the work side, but the competition is stiffer as well.
Boston is a nicer place to live in IMO, not as cramped, outpriced and not as dirty as NYC.
as for local agencies lessee:

http://www.digitas.com/...and if you ever feel the need, NYC is only 4 hours by car, one hour by plane or like 3 by train.

NYC has more opportunities, and the competition is more fierce. And yes, we are a$$holes...Personally I get pissy because of the long commute. I don't plan on staying here forever.
