there's a lot to do there. i was there last month, since it was my 3rd time, i didn't do much but just hang out.
i'd suggest hit all the touristy spots if it's your first time.

In July, there will be "Paris Plage" (Beach in Paris) on the river banks ... worth to check out.
At night, try "Le Point Ephemere" (http://www.pointephemere.org/) , or "Le Tryptique" (http://www.letriptyque.com/) ...
There are so many things to do ...
What are you into? That could help ...

I recommend :
- Centre Pompidou http://www.centrepompidou.fr ;
- Palais de Tokyo http://www.palaisdetokyo.com ;
- OFR bookshop rue Beaurepaire http://www.ofrpublications.com ;
- the historical heart of Paris (le Marais, place des Vosges, Palais-Royal, etc.).

Spend a full day at Versailles and most of the time in the gardens there. Obviously, the Louvre, but go to the Dorsay or you won't see any impressionism. The Eiffel Tower is great, but you might want to go at night as well. I also loved the Tuilleries Gardens.
Oh, it's a trip on the metro, but hit the Pere LeChet cemetary, where Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde are. What a place!
It was the best vacation of my life. It was 10 years ago, but seems like last year.

Just to add to what CyBrainX said: the cemetery he is talking about is great, it's "Pere Lachaise".
There is also "Le canal Saint Martin", where you have nice bars to hang around during the day.
The impressionists are at "Musee d'Orsay" ...
Don't go to "Palais de Tokyo", it's really overrated, check the bookshop, it's enough.
A good park to check out is "Les Buttes Cheaumonts", in the north east of Paris.

get up to the montmartre area if possible, very nice.
most mornings i would run down the street and get a crepe with nutella and grande mariner, and start walking the city - nice way to start the day - or afternoon.

Just got back recently, paris in spring should be quite nice... I would recommend learning the metro, buy a day pass, explore... Didn't hit all the clubs, there was a bar I really wanted to check out with this medical theme, drinks served in test tubes, x-rays on the wall (forgot the name)....anyone heard?

Paris in July? Same as Paris in June - a dim blonde with an unautherised porno video. Sheesh!
