I am sorta trying to teach myself how to use dreamweaver/web design. All I have done so far is laid out everything in Illustrator and then 'saved for web'. I have then opened it in dreamweaver and added all the links and stuff for each different element that needs a link. I didnt realise this was so easy. Is this the way everyone else does web design or do you all just use dreamweaver?

Dreamweaver is easy, yes, but sloppy. If you want to be 'pro' (not that i am) I suggest starting here...

pshop, not illustrator. and no, dont just save for web and ad links. Build manually to avoid shit code and endless problems.

Be a power-user.

my advice would be to learn your web languages (html, css, jscript, etc...) first, THEN start using dreamweaver. it's an extremely powerful tool and you can easily do great or horrible work with it...

codeing siites by hand in languages like html, xhtml, php is good. however..it isnt for everyone..do what feels comfortable but you should become familiar with the idea behind dreamweaver.(dont just use design view. Also you may or may not know this but if you go to a website you like(layout) you can in you browser click view>source..this is the html or whatever. copy it and paste it in dreamweaver..play around with it till you gert a sense of what the visual interface in the software does to the code. .it is a good tool for visualy oriented minds. It is also a good way to get ideas down fast for newbs or people who want to focus creativity in other areas. illustration, photography, porn.
It is better than front page..dont use that crap.
