I need to add 2 clocks to a site i'm working on.. client wants the New York local time and Amsterdam local time.
been doing some research but am running into some problems:
1. how do you get the local NY time without using the computer's built in clock. (so if someone in LA checks the site, they still see the NY local time -- not their computer time)
2. i need to have the clock formatted with regular text / html / css (i can't use text fields like most tutorials suggest)
3. if possible, the clock should tick
any suggestions or tutorials are welcome. i've been doing research on google and reading tutorials, but i can't seem to solove all 3 problems with one script.
...wondering whether it's possible.
thx.

best bet to make a php script to give you the server time, and then translate that to NY time...
to make the actual clock, i would go for flash if you want ticking hands (analog)...
if you just want numbers, use javascript and xmlhttp
i would recommend looking over at flashkit, i am sure there is a clock or something there...
oh, and flash can give you the time from the users computer, but it's not NY time

isn't there a international time server? I saw it on TV once....

you can reference time servers, like time.apple.com, but i don't exactly how to interface javascript with them...
that's why i thought if you could find a php script or something and just use your own server it would be nice...
you could try to steal these guys script: http://vancouver-webpages.com/ti…

thanks.
need to do this without flash so converting the server time might be the way to go... don't know to much about it, found this: http://www.geocities.com/lok_200…
found this on "simply the best": http://simplythebest.net/scripts…
(but it seems to give local time only)will post any new info if i find it.
