Preliminary Version 2 of a graphic novel cover design. Be cool, as I am primarily a writer and I recognize the need for input when it comes to improving my design skills. That's why I'm posting it:
The story is about a journalist who is assigned to write about the Bermuda Triangle when an accident shifts him to an alternate timeline - kind of a Twilite Zone-type situation. The font I use is Goudy, and the govering idea is that it be simple and spare in order to evoke a sense of space and time.
Thanks...

Neal, technically it's fine. I just think it's a bit underwhelming. I wish I could offer some suggestions to make it better, but I just woke up. Lemme think it over.

agreed, needs a little more cowbell but not much, try a few different positions of the type, Its just floating(pardone the pun) there. The image is nice.

Thanks, Jevad. Your posts around here are pretty impressive on the whole and I definitely respect your opinion.

maybe try minion and make the authors like 75% smaloler
- jevad0
aw shucks
maybe take the boat out and shrink down the shaffer/buckley
- nealjsb0
Definitely seeing the shrink on the names. Take the boat out, though? That was a part of the original image that I really liked, it feels like it adds to the sense of desolation. I'll try it and see what happens.
Thanks again, everybody.

By the way, Tara, that's a hot website. You've heard it before, I'm sure, but one more can't hurt.

I dunno...I see what you mean...I though they were fishing at first glance...maybe a different boat or angle....just thinking out loud though eh...

you could pull a jan tschichold and put just like a little boat in the middle of a blank page, like that boat that's in the picture, just tiny and in the middle. all white space except for a title and the boat and the other thing that was on there
- kld0
maybe if you can do an emboss with some metallic inks it would good or maybe a slight reflection of the title possibly.
- jevad0
ah yeah - gloss UV that sucker!

I like it a lot on the whole, but blue is my favorite color. huh. My stab at it would be to shrink the author names and slide them up; enlarge volume one.
I'll let the others pick the rest apart, but one thing I gotta say I love is how the water fades up into the sky, kinda looks misty, but not overdone. Swell job!

nice. much better than the last one :)

Thanks, toe_knee...and everyone else, but toe specifically because he remembers the last one. I went way the hell back to the drawing board.
