anyone any tips on getting involved with BIG clients? i run a small design firm (just 2 of us) and we get loads fo work via agencies but want to get some direct? any tips?

steal them from the agnecies you work for.
contact them direct,make them a sweet deal.
if it works great,if it doesn't well...its a bit of a gamble eh....

1. network.
2. sent unsolicited adaptations of their campaign or send a concept for a campaign (make sure you send it personally to the creative heads of that firm or else it'll end up in the trash).
3. try to get into pitches.
4. happens automatically if you're good and you're putting solid work out there consistenly they'll contact you.
50% is point 1 though, 25% is point 4 (unless you're rocking big time it's way more).

Post through a selection of work like a mini-portfolio, it's a lot of brown-nosing, but you need to be seen and exposed. Your website will be the first place they look once they get wind of your name.
Then there's the road that leads to direct mail....
