before i go bumping a thread that should have seen its last post long, long ago (i'm not naming any names), i'm going to start this hijack thread so as to prevent any skirmishes with the pro-euthanasia lobbies.
i'm doing alright, vespa, thanks! i've been doing the insomnia thing lately like i haven't done since i was a doctoral candidate so that's pretty weird. i don't feel nearly as drawn and quartered as i did at that point in my life, but something must be afoot to keep me from sleeping. part of me really enjoys it though. the halucinatory quality or like a film over the visible world that signals to something beneath it.
now i'm talking shite.
but this is a shite-talking thread, so that's okay.

weed helps. my recipe is two melatonin, half a spliff and two glasses of red wine.
sometimes i overstep my dosage a wee bit.
one thing is that a friend of mine and i have started talking about incorporating and so i'm doing a bit more mental chewing than i used to do. that'll often keep me up nights.
i wish i could go on a big trek through windswept lands like you, kuz. do you know sandy gall, the journalist who was the first to go into afghanistan and meet the mujajradeen (that's one word that i can never spell right)? he's a really cool guy. some stories to tell, that man, whoooee!

meditation is fucking difficult, though. have you ever tried to stop thinking?
takes people a lifetime to learn that trick. unbelievable. in fact, i'm not sure that anyone ever actually has. how would they prove it?

weed has the opposite effect for me. I fint it impossible to sleep stoned. My mind just cant relax, so many wild tangent thoughts that keep me awake. I never understood these people who say weed helps them sleep.
And meditation. I don't like the idea of emptying your mind of thoughts. My favourite thing to do is think. I could just sit infront of a window and stare into space and fink for hours.

haven't heard of that guy paraselene. but i got it all planned
from Lahore to Multan, back up to Taxila, to Peshawar, and then hire an armed escort to the Khyber pass, (apparently they cost a fiver a day - what a bargain!) then to Chitral, Gilgit, Northwest Province (where the al qaeda guy was caught yesterday) then to Skardu,(gaze at the second and eight highest mountains in the world) then catch the only bus that goes from Pakistani Kashmir to the Indian side, to Srinigar, Ladakh, Jammu, Leh (maybe). Then swing back round to Delhi, back to Lahore, and come home. But they're still early days, need to mash out more concrete plans
