    just been told to make a web site which will be in different languages so they asked me to make it "localisable".

    What does that mean please?

    I'd imagine it means you need to leave space in the website for languages which have more words than your original English copy. E.g. if you're getting the site translated to Korean for example, you'll need to leave space for the extra characters involved.

    I'd also keep the copy fairly simplistic, not too many extravagent english words, just simple text, easily translated. And of course this simple text will help any Americans when reading it...
