Fellow Toronto NTers, who knows of some locations or streets downtown with a few used book stores, not so much the new places like another mans poison, or Swipe. I know David Mirvish has used stuff, looking for some software books and art/design stuff, nothing in particular would just like to check out whats out there.
Any recommendations is appreciated.

There's one on Queen about 1 block west of Spadina -- IIRC its called Abelard's -- you'll find some art books, but I don't know about computer-related stuff ...

There used to be a small second-hand bookstore next door to World's Biggest Bookstore on Dundas and Edward .. but it was really small ..

Sorry - that's Yonge and Edward ..

solid, that store is called BMV (Books, Music, Video) and it's expanded. I buy a tonne of stuff there all the time. I spent 30 bucks the other day and walked out with 9 books and a DVD.
Don't think they have much in the way of art/design books but they do have some excellent photography books. Plus, regular fiction/non-fiction stuff.
Great store.

there is a really good one on McCaul ... don't remember the name, but it has all design books.
It's on McCaul about 1/4 of the way north of Queen on the East side ... under the Artist's Co-op.
not cheap but good.

the lady who runs that store looks a little crazy. Like she needs a good nights sleep.

Back from my book shopping day.
Yeah another mans poison is a bit weird. I went there once and she had 2 of the 3 books I wanted, and one book was a little cheaper elsewhere that she had. I asked her if she would match the price of that one book and I would buy all three from her and she wouldnt. However I bought Dutch Type from her last week.
The one west of Bathurst is David Mirvish Books, havent been there in a long time. They had some great deals! For 24 bucks tax in I picked up that book on Paul Renner, and one on the blackletter typeface. Was gonna get one on Tscihold for 12 but there wasnt much text in it so I'll get it another time.
Had a hard time finding any software books although they were not high up on my to do list.
Havent thought of taking from York , but Ocad has a book on Adrian Frutiger I have had my eyes on, and even though as a Ysdn (York) student I can take books out in there, that book is reference material :( I think a laptop and scanner at Ocad library is in order.
