lately i seen portfolio after portfolio all going text button, white backgound, super simple design. I think its good. But i do see a problem if everyone's portfolio start to look very simler. i miss the old creative projects...even its (hard to use sometimes) that take some risk and try something new and not be a slave of trand..
I love what Yugo has done, and the old Praystation, Gmunk ..etc.. im not talking about expermtal actionscript stuff... im talking about design... they just did it just for the hell of it for fun, and don't care much about anything and what people say.
a personal project don't always have to be a portfolio... i think we are doing stuff too "safe" right now for some reason...
what was the last design project that made you look and think wow, i wish i came up with this idea? post links :)

I remember when abizzyman did the site where it looked like you could still scroll up when you really couldn't. I've always liked that one.

i LOVE this site

i used it and will most likely use it again.
it's not a trend.
it's jsut a way to make your work stand out better.
less clutter, more to the point.
i love portfolio's that don't scream: "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!"
unless it's been done in a really really refreshing manner, but that is rarely the case.

i agree with you, the part u said "unless it's been done in a really really refreshing manner, but that is rarely the case."
is what im looking for... because it is rare...

yeah, it's definatly pieces of coughed up long.
an artist and his smokes..
he's reflecting his life in his work.
a true artist.

well setsolid, i hear ya, but i am not gonna do that, as i am not primarily into webdesign, i just want to show my work and a white bg makes the best contrasting environment imho.

oh i have nothing against simple folio design :) i think they are great! i just want to know if anyone know any very refined, creative but easy to use site. don't have to be a folio.
- DonDigital0
I don't need things to move to make me happy.
Guess I just like plain waffles...my folios have always been minimal. Different strokes for different folks.
...Besides, who has the time, getting old...

i look at a website as a reflection of the designers creativity.

anthropologie has a very defined style

i really like it for a shopping site

its more a question of having something more permanent as solution that can overcome into time rather than a creative phase.

i think a personal project... it can be anything.. and not about solving a problem or comunicate some kind of message... u know, like yugo's site

order is nice, bus so is controlled chaos.
this is a sort of shakespearean aside: i think i remember (in some art history class) a connection between economics+politicas+fashion
i've wondered if anyone has made similar connections with design and say, the west-cost surf/culture or whatever phase/fad we are in now w/the flat flash-illustrator-tshirt phase...
