Richmond was fun when I trekked through there. There are shitloads of jobs in DC-Metro. God, I could move there tomorrow and find a job in about 3 days.
Richmond's a little far from DC but still that entire area is ALIVE!

I know im in DC right now but the significant other is moving there and well you know the rest so I was looking for a position in that area but couldnt really find any listings of firm I tried everything from aiga, craigslit, creativehotlist etc just didnt know if I was missing something.
i was looking for a cool non corporate place, where design is more important that the marketing message.

probably the largest in town, but there are a lot of other smaller places too.

The Martin Agency is one of the largest in the area, but don't rule out a lot of the small firms in the Richmond River District.
Also check out the Richmond Times-Dispatch online:

on your way here huh? nice.
ok where to begin......the martin agency is big and of course so are their heads.....they don't like to pay much and expect a lot from you. like mentioned the Times-Dispatch is a good place to start and so is the AD-Club. I got a few freelance gigs from that site. I just contacted most of the people in the directory.
to find a place that's all about design like you mentioned may take some digging but i'm sure there is something. these guys are really good, not sure if they are hiring though.
cville is kinda cool but with the price of gas right now it would be too expensive. for 6 months i traveled from Richmond to Cville 5 days a week to work for DMB. it practically killed my car and it's somewhat brand new.....stick to Richmond. no offense C_Ville.
feel free to email me if you want as well.

Auricom thanks for the help im probably going to take you up on your offer and email you in a bit just with some q's . i am trying to figure out the richmond area. Its kinda hard from a distance.
I have heard good things about the martin agency and bad things (pay) too. have you heard anything about the superior production exchange ?
thanks again

nope, never heard of it.
richmonds not too bad to navigate, just don't go to the south side. it's ghetto fabulous.
