Looking for a good color printer for our office at a reasonable price ($800 or less?)
Need good quality for mockups etc - and decent speed - wnat to network it also

i doubt that you will find a decent laser for that price.
no where near the quality of ink.TR1

In my experience the colors in laser prints are always off. I think you can get a better quality inkjet for a lot lower cost than a laser printer.

that's just about enough cash to get a good new inkjet and an ok-ish used laser. do that. documents printed on inkjet: shitty.

I have the canon pixma ip5000 (inkjet) at home - its fantastic and has new technology which produces crisp text like laserjet - works great and around 200.00
Not sure how that would work in an office, networked, pc/mac, 6 people.

There's also PostScript software for higher end epsons.

i was leaning toward inkjet but my boss prefers the crisp letters of laser and fears smudging ink on mktg materials

that's the PostScript software i mentioned. It should produce crisp lines, but looks like it doesn't support OSX.. o_O

What is the best way to go for inkjet prints that don't run if they get wet?

anyone have experience with the Lexmark C510N color laserjet?
seems to be the most recommended among low cost multiplatform
