A coworker brought this to my attention:
"For those who aren't aware, the entire interface of the Mozilla and Firefox browsers is written in XUL- the XML User Interface Language. This is part of the reason it is very easy to write extensions that change the way mozilla/firefox look and act.
However, you can also write entire web pages in XUL, to quickly create applications with a native look and feel that run in your web browser.
I'm not sure exactly how useful this is, since it will only work in mozilla or firefox, but it is a neat idea nonetheless."

I command you all (those on mozilla anyway) to click the link in my post above - it's bloody neat!

it is actually false to say it 'only' works in mozilla. xul is an xml technology in and among itself.
it just happens that it is the technology mozilla decided to use as their framework.
and yes, xul is nice. i am currently rewriting an old legacy (dos) application in php, xul, xml and mysql.
