Cheers in advance you lovely lovely people.

some simple code should work, similarly to starting an .exe or .swf. AutoPlay something or other

[AutoRun]
open=whatever.exe
icon=whatever.icowhatever.mov
I guess...?

The AutoRun feature on Windows is implemented by putting an INF file in the parent directory of the CD. Create a text file called "AutoRun.inf" using a program such as Notepad. Include the following text, replacing "whatever" with the name of the application you wish to launch:
what I said before

peep this:
1. Create a Temporary Partition in Toast and allocate the amount of space necessary to accomidate the total amount of Mac files you have. Drag your files acrosss and into the partition folder and rename and give it your custom icon, then lay it out how you want it.
2. Then select Custom Hybrid form 'Other' option on the Toast interface.
3. Press 'Select Mac' and locate and select your new partition folder sitting on your desktop as the select volume.
4. Once selected, click the AutoStart tick-box and select your Director projector or Srart.html within your new patition folder.
5. You have an Autorun.
...if you are producing a cross-platform disk, fill the 'Select ISO' with your PC content (you can of course share some materials from the Mac side) and....
"In Windows, a file named Autorun.inf is necessary to automatically do things when a disk is inserted. This is basically a batch file that contains commands for Windows to run when the disk is inserted. This file must be saved as DOS text with line breaks. For more information on the Autorun.inf file, its contents, and its format, please check the Microsoft KnowledgeBase." (Roxio Support)

It's always worth reading the manuals and checking up at the Web site for updates on the software, especially with OS10 issues arising and the new Director MX arriving.
Hope that helps.

Last I heard there was no autostart function for Mac...is this a proven workaround, JazX?

use autorun for the pc file.
on a mac. you may have to put the movie if possible in either director or flash. then make an autostart .exe. you can select it i know for sure in director so that when the cd is played in a mac it automatically runs. not sure if you can do it with a flash exe.

cheers guys I wil try what youse have said and see what happens.

if that fails you could always have each person who is going to run the cd, call you first. then you drive over, put the cd in for them and click run for them. thus, autostarting the cd for them.
