Do you have a Workhorse Type Font?
Which is it, Fedra Sans/Serif, Trade Gothic, Frutiger, Interstate ETC.?
Why?
- JazX0
I have all of those. What do you mean why?

I'm not asking if you HAVE these fonts. I'm asking which font in your collection of fonts is your WORKHORSE Type Font.
Which one do you find, performs dependably under heavy or prolonged use?
- dan_dan_dan0
And, what is it about that Type Font--in your opinion, expert or not--that makes it dependable?

I see. Gotcha'. I am like wtf are is this dude talkin about.
I use a ton of DIN and Rotis. Forced by work though. Varying Helveticas for the rest.
Here is some of my personal favs: http://www.machnewmedia.com/misc…

tie between Frutiger, Trade Gothic.
- dan_dan_dan0
That's what I'm looking for. Helvetica, DIN.
I found myself laying out body copy in Tarzana™ a whole lot; I guess it's my latest Workhorse.

It seems Sans Type Fonts are the usual for daily use. Anybody have any examples of a solid Serif?
I'm thinking ITC Officina Serif.

*seeks din and base twelve
hot

by workhouse you should mean a type that's fairly undecorative and can be used in variety of projects, something you can count on, hence listing Helvetica, Trade, Frutiger, etc. etc.
if you want a classic 'workhorse' don't choose any of that emigre 90s shit ok?
;)

BASE 12:
GOOD ANSWER.
- dan_dan_dan0
New Workhorses can be introduced; why not?
It doesn't have to be CLASSIC, it just has to work well under heavy use.
What makes a Type Font Classic? Time or Design?
If this means undecorative to you, then good.
- JazX0
Base12 is on the link I gave you
- dan_dan_dan0
My apologies, I never made it to that link.
I'm going there now.
Base 12 = Good Answer.

hee hee naahh its ok, there are few 'workhorses' in there

Inspira:
I think this is a great example of a newly introduced Type Font that can easily be seen as a Workhorse.
Does anyone know who designed this for GE?
Inspira = Good Answer.

I have Inspira if you want it, it was offered for free anyway, just email me

Helvetica Neue, Frutiger are my workhorse fonts. Mainly because they're so commerically applicable and I've gotten good with them over the years.

For me, a workhorse font needs an extended character set, many available weights and widths, small caps, and serif/sans companions are plus. Thusly, Thesis:
TheSans
