I like it! But please don't leave the gaps in the B and the R.
- fate_redux0
And the left vertical "column" of the K needs more space below where the diaganol touches it. More like the K in the version you used to spell your name. It has a longer "leg"

T is too narrow, W, X, Y and esp Z are too heavy + all what fate said about P and R, is this font caps-only btw? I say its a good start
- skelly0
- the G is a little bottom heavy
- the tail of the Q could be more defined
- not sure the Z should have pointed corners when they don't appear anywhere else (like on the M). i don't know...
- T and V could be wider
- the S doesn't look balanced
- O and Q seem a little thin, as well
looks really good though for a start.

thanks for the good advice so far.
:-)
i'm gonna try and address those issues tonight. i want to make the T a bit wider, but i'm pretty happy with the WXYZ. the K is gonna need more attention for sure.
The problem with K is that i'm trying to keep to using only 2 different angles throught the font, and they don't seem to produce a K with good porportion. I am gonna try to slightly tweak them so that they produce a good K, but visually look like the other 2 angles.

Yeah I am not big on the gaps, rest of the typeface dosn't really have that feel to me, but if you do, I would do the same thing to the P for consistancy.
Im assuming this will be caps only, but if not I would auggest working on lc before uc.
I think skelly mentioned it, the tail of the Q. I would rework that too, its really heavy.
Sometimes when im working on letters its good to zoom out really far and look for any dark areas like that.

do you want to make a "decorative" or title font or a highly legible font?
cuz if you want the latter you need to do a lot of work.. i have doubts about the K it looks different in the text to the one in the alphabet..
also the B screams for attention..the F, what's the name for it in english, the second horizontal line in the F (and E)seems to stick out, you need to work more optical less metrical. The S is a complete problemchild there, it seems to be put upside down, and it's not happy. The Q gets too much black concentrated on the point where the tail crosses.. i also have a feeling the Z doesn't fit very well with the rest, prolly cuz of the very pointy edges as opposed to the other letters??
other then that it is nice?
are you only making caps?
- vburo0
other then that it's nice.
(i meant)

I'm gonna start with the CAPS and punctuation in 3 weights, but will probably add lowercase later. The goal is really a Title font.

nice work, good luck with it.
- vburo0
ah ok. it looks quite promising. keep us posted and best of luck to you sir.

vburo- i think that you're on to something with the optical comment. i've made a bunch of geometric rules for myself to live by with this font and some are biting me in the ass (like with the K) But hopefully i will prevail :-)
thanks for the advice and incouragement. :-)
- ivan_cook0
concerning the K...
the top version in the name is more current than the lower version.
:-)
- son0
can i have it ? like it is?
- vburo0
ah great.. that one is better anyway.
well i am learning quite a bit about type since i started reading a very good theory book written by Gerard Unger who is a very good typedesigner (esp. in the field of legibility) and he sort of says the optical measurement is king.
- vburo0
"Cover for my book Terwijl je leest, German and English translations of which are in preparation."
So keep an eye on it. As far as theory goes this is one of the better and most comprehensive books i read in a while..
- ivan_cook0
vburo- thanks for the links. that book sounds fantastic. i'll be looking for it.
:-)

could you post a pdf or something like that? or something larger??
i'd love to see it up close..
