both have quality fish, but matsuri is the winner for atmosphere.. or at least architecture.
def make a res for the lower dining room though!

no..where is it located?
basicly we have 2 other couples for dinner and the nparty on at some bar, so i heard of matsuri, and i know its in a hotel and there a bar called hero right there, so i figured thats the spot, considering that the sake would start us off i felt a long walk away can be annoying...am i on track or should i consider other places?

sakagura is like "surprise!" kinda place. it's on east 43rd, located in the basement of office building. once you walk in, it's very intimate and japanese. food is also well prepared and retain the true japanese taste.
in my opinion, bond st or matsuri are good, but lacking that one final step. it's fairly americanized.
anyways, matsuri could be good because there are many places you can go after, maybe Gansvoort hotel roof top bar, APT, etc...
