So now you all know why I started that thread on happiness! :P
Just wanted to run one idea past you guys. There's other concepts, but this one specifically I want to see how it floats with people.
Basically, from the other thread, it's obvious that everyone has different things that make them happy, so it's pointless to generalise one thing on the poster. So instead, I leave an open space for people to come along and write on the poster themselves. So really, it has to encourage people to do that whilst it's stuck on a public wall.
Which one do you think achieves that the best, or what could reinforce that more?(oh, and the yellow is actually pantone 803 U flourescant)

the third and fourth ones are the most successfull because the box shape gives the viewer the hint that the are able to interact with the piece.

I like that much better than _l_l_l_l_l_l_l is my anti-drug

it would be cooler if there was a marker on a string or something attached to it
but man, you're gonna get some obscene answers from the public which could reflect poorly on the gallery

Will people?
1. Realize that the white box is there for them to fill in?
2. Be bold or pro-active enough to do so?

John - I was thinking that to, but am worried those two look a bit plain. But then I guess the end point is not the poster thats drawing the attention, but what people have written or drawn in the box.
spendogg - I'm not sure I understand...

i like it.

might draw more attention if you printed the poster without the box, and placed a wide white piece of tape where it is supposed to be. someting to give it some sort of textural difference from the poster. you could also replace the tape every once and a while to give more people a chance to voice their ideas.

true, we could get some obscene answers. but it will be obvious the answers aren't the exhibitions doing.
i like the idea of attaching a pen. wouldn't be anywhere near being able to fit within the budget, but perhaps I could just do it in a few choice locations, and leave them as is everywhere else.
as for knowing whether they can fill it out - perhaps a small note in the fluro yellow inside the box saying "contribute here" or something?

john - thats a fantastic idea!
i know the boss won't go for it, especially with the size of the run (i'm guessing it will be 1000, like most of our posters), but I wouldn't mind staying back one night and doing the tape myself. Definately like it!!

THE FIRST TWO SAY TO ME THAT THE SUN IS MY HAPPINESS
sorry about the CAPS

i like it.
perhaps add a blank line at the bottom of the box to make it look it's left blank instead of just the white space.
