what do you use?
im looking for something really basic, that puts in the basic outline when a new doc is made ( etc) and has quick buttons for adding code ( tags), however any suggestions would be great

This might be too basic for you, but I love BBEdit. http://www.barebones.com/product… It can add doctype, and there is shortcuts for tags, etc.

taco is a good free html editor.
Textmate is awesome for scripting on a mac, it recognizes actionscript & other languages too -

TextMate all the way... wicked program...
Its going through a syntax engine change, so it will be 100% after that... should be ready soon...
