What do you say for this idea?
It was for an advertising competition i made. The brief was to show that Depression is normal, it is like a dissease.Does it work?

WHY YOU SHOUTING?
- Terminal270
The image of the dude crying doesn't say sepression to me.
Have you ever been depressed...
I have and it just made me feel sad and lonely.. I don't think i ever cried like I'd just seen Bambi.Maybe some people get like this...
dunno.. doesn't work for me

Terminal27, yeah i have depression even now i think. I dont also cry so. But at the end there comes a big break. That is crying i think.
I tired to find an image of Depression and illness together. That i could find a headache position or this Sneezing/crying and to say Depression is an illness.
To show both worlds...

you should add the headline
"Not Flu"
and tail it off with some body text explaining depression and how common it is.

One known symptom of depression is the inability to cry, I'm not sure that you have the best message. (From a quick glance).
It might be worth looking at it from the 'same as you an me' angle and finding some wit.
I'd delve a little deeper into your subject matter.
And yup, it looks like he's sneezing.
Art direction's good though.

Even the style of photography isn't effective, it looks a little to upbeat and posed, it actually made me laugh, not sympathetize.

i like the metaphor of a visual sickness but isn't a cold a bit too low key compared to depression? i mean depression can be life threatening. a cold not really, using someone who sneezes isn't taking it serious enough / too playfull (as snuggles already said).

;)
exthe idea works, but the execution is not quite there..
i did like that idea (see above in this thread) about a tag line of 'not flu'..thought that was cute, but also served the stratagy of 'it's like any other problem' kinda thing...cheers

nice art direction.. poor photo for it.

yes, it seems more humorous than serious. Or maybe it's supposed to be that way?

Thanks for all thougts.
Really i apreciate all.The briefing at the end tells: That depression is life threatening yes, but they want to show it that it is just like another illness. Not that crazy.
What i tried was: An image which looks like an illness + Depression. And then to say hey look, depression is like an illness also! And the copy says that if you dont take action it can be life threatening. Just like a flu or what ever other illness...
Yeah lets see what result we get. 12 april!
But really, thanks everybody.

I really like it allot if you are worried that it looks a bit like he is crying why not redden his nose a little and it will look more like a common cold ?? just an idea.

"The briefing at the end tells: That depression is life threatening yes, but they want to show it that it is just like another illness. Not that crazy."
i totally understand but i'm not talking about lepra. see, if you use a cold as a metaphor than you're basically saying that depression is a small disease, you'll be fit in a couple of days and it's nothing. so you're downplaying depression. don't know if that fits the briefing / goal.
