my buddy got a proof back from a print shop and it had hecka cool proof marks all over the outside of the artwork. i'm talking about cool shit i've never seen before like weird dot gain tests and moire patterns and stuff, plus tons of color bars and swatches. i was wondering if anyone knows how to generate all that stuff. i tried the generate marks in illustrator and it just creates a few color bars, crop markes, etc, not near the level of shit i saw on my buddy's proof.. any ideas? i mean, i could draw it all out myself but i want to know how it's done because i want to use the real deal on a project.. thanks..

comes from the RIP software

hmmmmm.. where would i get this, how you say in english, 'rip software'?

The RIP software is software used in the individual printers process to rasterize, created plates, and print. I don't think you could find it anywhere without spending a whole lot of money.

Go to the printer, or your buddy and pick up the leftover trim (i just love to say that). Scan those puppies and post em. We'll have us a vectorizin' party. I'm curious what new marks are in use...it's been a few months since my last press check.

who was the printer?

yeah, i might as well just scan those puppies.. it'd be cool if there was some online resource where you could just download the vector shizzle.. well, once i build everything, i'll put it up for download so nobody else has to go through this..
