I am not a fan, but a seer

I didn't go to college, just art schools (X5).

I'm now in immersion therapy where I've been introduced to my inner "sportsguido".

    *thread goes veering outta control:

Q: How long before Ben Affleck is starring in "CSI: Boston?"

A: That's like saying, "How long before 50 Cent gets shot again?"

    from: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/p…

    *veering, slowly - very slowly

I've just created a NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Pool at http://www.netbrackets.com which you will be able to join as soon as the Tournament teams are announced on March 13, 2005. In the mean time you can go to netBrackets and check out the demo's.

When it comes time to make your picks, on the netBrackets Home page just select the Make Your Picks link to go to the Pool Login page. On the Pool Login page enter the below information:

    Pool Name:NEWSTODAY
    Pool Password: XXXXXXXXXX

Once signed into the pool, follow these steps to make your picks:

    1. On the User Login page, enter the requested information for a New User and select Done. You will then be taken to the Picks page.

    2. On the Picks page, make picks for ALL games in ALL regions for all rounds according to the directions. Games in each round are worth a certain amount of points as follows:

    Round 1: 5 points
    Round 2: 10 points
    Round 3: 15 points
    Round 4: 20 points
    Round 5: 25 points
    Round 6: 30 points

For more details on scoring, see the Scoring section below. After you have made all of your picks, select the Done button and you will be taken to the Confirm Picks page.

    3. On the Confirm Picks page you will enter the tie breaker (number of points in the championship game) and confirm that you want to join the pool with the displayed picks. Don't worry, you can always go back and make changes any time before the Pick Cutoff Time. If you want to stay with your picks, select the Confirm button and you're done. If you want to change picks, select the Go Back button to go back to the Pics page.

    4. After making and confirming your picks, you will be able to re-login from the Make Your Picks link if you want to change your picks, up until the Pick Cutoff Time (see below).

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST CONFIRM YOUR PICKS FOR YOUR ENTRY OR CHANGES TO BE ACCEPTED.

    Tracking A Pool
After the Pick Cutoff Time (see below), the Pool Status link on the Netbrackts Home page will take you to the Pool Login page where you can specify which pool's status you would like to see. This will take you to the specified pool's Pool Status page. On the Pool Status page you will be able to see or access the following:
    - Other Users' picks
    - Current standings
    - Each entrant's total points
    - Each entrant's point potential
    - Info on each game indicating who took which teams
    - A list of all pool entrants' real names and e-mail addresses
    - A Printable Picks page, for printing picks onto a single sheet of paper

All of the above information is updated automatically as the games are played.
Also, sometime after the third round you will be able to enter Can I Win mode. In Can I Win mode you will be able to find out who can still come in first, second or third, and what needs to happen for each. Just look for the Can I Win button. And finally, note that the DEFAULT and ACTUALS are not real entrants in the pool. Selecting the ACTUALS picks on the Pool Status page shows the actual results of the games. The DEFAULT entry shows the status for an entry in which all higher seeds are picked.

Pick Cutoff Time: Please note that you will only be able to make or change your picks until the Pick Cutoff time of 9:00 am EST, Thursday morning, 3/17/2005. After this time, you will only be able to go to the Pool Status page (see above).

Scoring: The games in each round are worth a certain number of points set by the pool creator. To calculate a person's score, netBrackets awards the appropriate number of points for each correct pick. For example, say the first two rounds of the tournament have been played and that first round picks are worth 2 points each and second round picks are worth 4 points each. If a person got 26 picks correct in the first round and 10 picks correct in the second round, they would have a total of 26 X 2 + 10 X 4 or 92 points. Points are re-calculated after each game so they are always up to date.
