You are not insane - check out these books:
The man who tased Shapes
(can't remember author)The Man who mistook his wife for a hat ( Oliver Saks)
i did my dissertation on this for college. very interesting and loads of different permiatations of it - people who only eat orange food on a wednesday, people whos body forms certain shapes when they hear certain sounds etc.
All to do with perception and altered states thereof.
Most people have some level of it eg - Blue is cold and Red is hot...

Fascinating, spanna.
I can remember when I was a lad, I'd ask the other kids in class, "What color is your Monday?"
Of course they would then make haste in distancing themselves from me.

I wouldn't have. i would have got you to tell me more......
Quite a few artists are said to have been synesthetes eg Kandisky whose paintings are frequently visual representations of music.

i always thought that the scene in the 80s movie 'mask' (with cher, sam elliot) that the kid teaches the blind girl colors using different objects was pretty smart.
something hot was red, grass or leaves or something was green, etc.
most folks identify colors, objects, feelings, etc.
by the way, sunday is #999999

i was doing some research recently on colours and music cos i'm working on a Beethoven visualisation application... anyways excuse this awful site but there's some interesting stuff on "Colour Scales"

Beethoven said B minor was the black key :)

this sounds like a joke but i'm serious... and possibly insane.
i have a particular fart that i have always thought if it were to be reproduced in a lab it would be in powder form.
- vespa0
you "have" a particular fart? did you capture it and lock it in a jar?
- Rand0
where's your blue?
- driftlab0
oh my.
- gruntt0
lol vespa.
no, it lives within me. apparently certain combinations of food becon it to come out.
- gruntt0
ok back to the subject of colors.
sorry to hijack with my insanity.
- blaw0
color link, vespa. i've always thought music was the most accessable way to communicate abstract concepts.
- vespa0
your poor fart, yearning for the freedom that only chick peas can provide.
i'm imagining it breaking out every now and then, ren and stimpy style, thinking that you're its loving father, only to be cruelly locked in a jar and taken to a chemical weapons lab and mercilessly ground down into reconstituted dehydrated powder fart. (this is the first time i've ever experienced fart empathy)
- gruntt0
vespa you're cracking me up.
it really does lend itself to a ren and stimpy episode.
hilarious.
- vespa0
it was a ren and stimpy episode wasn't it? stimpy gave birth to stinky who was this brown quivering mass that would follow stimpy everywhere cos it thought he was its father (and it was connected to stimpy's ass by its umbilical cord). i have a very clear vision - please dont tell me i'm making this up
