ive done it with my powerbook.

same OS on the disk, just differnt print on it G5 etc.
so yes.. just installed 10.3.8 on my iBook G4 from a iMac G5 disk..

should work. although some osx installers look at the actual machine and if it's not matching it stops installing (if it's a non retail osx install for instance). there's a trick to bypass that though.
