im about to purchase a new notebook with the following specs. do you think this is enough power to run all the necessary design apps. photoshop, flash, etc. with a small amount of gaming on the side aswell...
IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M Processor 730 (1.60GHz1, 2MB L2 Cache)
512MB PC-2700 333MHz DDR (256MB x 2 - Expandable up to 1GB)

im not a big fan of the mac notebooks. i hope i didnt offend anybody.
they are too pricey. we just got a new 17 powerbook at work and it is surprisingly slow!

i would get a sony vaio model.
theyre the best....
after a powerbook ;)

If you get a mac, get it because of the stability of the OS. I have a 15" PB G4 that i got 5 months ago and I LOVE it... even when running flash and photoshop, the system is very fast.
Im guessing the reason the one at your work is slow because maybe it doesnt have enough memory for whatever you guys are using it for.
I have 2 GIGs in mine.... its all the memory I will EVER need.
MAC ATTACK!

get a mac
but whatever you get... get 1 gig of ram at the least

so vaio's are a no-go?
even with a 1GB of ram?

i hear vaios look good but they break down easily.. just be aware of the consequences : P

I have a VAIO GRT390, Pentium M, 1GB RAM, DVD-RW. It 's nice, but has some odd gliches that one wouldn't expect at that price. The battery life sucks, but the screen is beautiful.
Price out some other manufacturer w/ the same specs and see what the pric ediff is.
(My job bought mine, so I didn't have a choice)

What ever you get.. get ATLEAST 1GB of ram, you will regret it if you don't.. I cheaped out and only got 512 and totally regret it.

seems like NT people are one track minds ;-)
i had a thinkpad that rocked though... a vaio that didn't.
thinkpad=ugly as sin
vaio=pertyanyway, from your specs, you should be fine for the apps you need to run and some light gaming.
