OS X Peer to Peer problem

Recently I installed the OS X software updates. Ever since then, my Limewire app will not launch. So I tried using other apps such as xdonkey, aquisition, and xfactor. Well, all of these apps open, but when I try to download files, no luck. Its like the programs will not connect.
Anyone have any tips, or have encountered this before?

Have you checked to see if the firewall is active in the system preferences? or
do you have a router that uses a built-in firewall?
