hey'lo
I'm having troubles importing a detailed cector chart diagram, from Freehand to Flash.
if u look here;
http://webdev1.otago.ac.nz/organ…When i zoom right in on the text in Freehand, it is perfect & crisp as youd expect.
when I import it into Flash, then zoom in, the text has gone all rough, and certain letters are missing. really strange
my question is, what is the best way to import a Freehand doc into flash, and retain the quality ?
ive trid converting to an .eps and importing, also tried converting to a .art file and importin that, none of which hepled?
all the text is paths
any ideas? this is so annoying

hmm try making your text outlined? so it's just shapes and not text...flash fucks with text in my experience

This might help.

did you try just plain copy/pasting?
or export as swf?
- elms0
do you have illustrator? then open the eps file in illu and export it as swf

warheroes, yes its all paths as I stated above.
wil try the export as flash idea tho!
yes Rasko, i tried plain ol copy and paste with the same results.
cheers fellas :)

ok exporting as a swf from Freehand
is even worsei havent got illustrator installed, do u think it would handle it better ?
i can install it if need be
argghhhhhhhhhhh!
- elms0
dont have freehand, but do you have some kind of export options, like in illu there are preserve appearance or preserve editabililty?
- blackspade0
yes there are options when exporting but none like that
so looks like i should install illustrator

can't freehand create swf files natively?
- blackspade0
yes it can
if you read above
it yields even WORSE results
terrible quality
i think its because my chart is so detailed perhaps ??
any ideas?
this seems really stoopid, i thought flash MX was supposed to work fantastically with freehand now
- elms0
if its too detailed...
i dont know..... you cant use gif's/png's?
- blackspade0
it sooo has to be Vector
if you look at my link above, its zoomable, so needs to retain quality at all sizes
- johndiggity0
dynamic text setting? sorry, i'm still learning flash.
- elms0
eh, its blank screen... ?? must be some ff bug
- blackspade0
wha!?
oh no' this is going from bad to worse
im looking in FF on OSx and I can see it fine ?
could i get you to try it another browser ?
- johndiggity0
might be safari, i see the same text prob at http://www.collab.nl
- elms0
err.... now its ok... weird, i was refreshing couple of times and nothing happened, then closed the window and opened it again and again nothing, but on third time it was ok.
- blackspade0
nah the text is shit when i look in flash, so its not a browser issue, its an importing issue
royal pain in my ass, i was expecting it to import fine in flash
- elms0
rebuild the text part in flash? :(
