"I don't deal well with rough areas"
And you come from NYC? :)
Maybe Marylebone is your thang? Lots of Red Pilar Post-boxes and olde worlde photo boxes, Amercians love it around there... it's 'quaint'.

Humm Ive been to a trading esate in West Ham to buy some T-shirts and its not that good. I would look for something closer to town

How much can you afford to spend on a flat a week. This kind of determins where you can live.
- Tara0
but would it be okay for a month?
i just need somewhere for a month that is decent.
or is too far out and not a nice area?
- Chimp0
I dont know a huge amount about upton park. if its just for a month I think it would be ok. Have you thought about Bethnal Green. It very close to town and is reasonablly cheap.
- Tara0
i'll keep that in mind. I've posted an ad so it's pretty much whatever I can find during that time period you know- since it's only a short term stay.
- Tara0
what about finsbury park area?
thanks
- rasko40
west ham is a shithole and its pretty way out, finsbury park is also a bit of a slum but it's much closer. Hackney is cheap and just up the road from bethnal green, both aint great but hackney has a vibe at least, just dont touch the hackney wick area really, stick around hackney central.
- Tara0
i want to spend NO MORE than 150ppw -- so what are the best areas to look for that? thanks Rasko

you could get a room in a house share in shoreditch / nicer parts of hackney and bethnal green for that kinda £$. tougher geting it just for a month though, when are you thinking of coming?
- rasko40
you could find somewhere in a nice area for that money.
look at chalk farm or belsize park.
- rasko40
or highgate, highgate village is nice.
- Chimp0
£150 a week is loads if you live in a shared flat. If your looking for a 1 bed thats not so great. Hackney has got loads of young poeple living there and is quite interesting but has no tube station and is a bit hard to get to the west end.
Islington / Highbury is very close to things and a is in nicer part of town but expensive.
If your gonna live on your own I would say Finsbury Park or Bethnal Green would be the best option because of thier cost and good transport links.
Best thing to do is check out these areas and see if they match your budget.

West Hampstead/Kilburn area is good for short term stay. Good bars, villagey feel, but great transport and close to the city.
I love living round here, but I grew up in Bethnal Green so I'm a bit prejudiced!
