If you live in NYC, don't forget to go to Central Park any time between this Saturday and the end of the month for Christo's Gates project.

yeah, apparently his original proposal to the city was one page long, and the rejection letter he received was over a hundred pages! It's a dream-come-true for him.

looks like it's gonna be cool project to check out.
i always liked his projects ever since i saw the photo of wrapped reichstag.
it's always good to see poeple who really make it happen while everything is going against him.

On NPR they said it cost Christo and his wife $21 million dollars and that they paid for it themselves and donated 1 mil to Central Park as part of the deal.

He pays for all his projects himself by auctioning off the concept art.
He will not accept donations of any kind, and sometimes hires up to 200 workers to help.

his smaller drawings sell for $7000 - $40,000 a piece. he does hundreds for each major project. never underestimate what having your name in the art history books does to your auction prices.
