Has anyone here traveled extensivley through India? I'm planning a long trip there and would like to know what your experience was like...

Most people in cities of any larger size speak English. It takes guts to travel around, but the rewards are excellent. Too much to say in a post. Email me if you'd like specific recommendations, I've been there 5 times.

My friend went to Goa and said it was awesome.... was coming back today on a bus to bangalore.....
night life definitely in bangalore... delhi and mumbai are very dirty...

That's great. Yeah I've had people tell me I won't make it back alive, but that's what they said when I went ot China. I want to spend at least a month there, and I don't think that's long enough.
I'll check out those places, thanks.

Don't go there for the Mumbai nightlife. It's a bad caricature of US nightlife, ppl trying to dress and act like Americans, dancing to Britny Spears and C & C Music Factory. (unless that's your thing) There are much better ways to spend time.

i want to go there too.
when are you going, mexist?

you'll make it back alive al right! LOL
Goa is the indian version of Ibiza. but you need to know the right people to get groovy. India isnt really about night life so thats that.
1 month is good, as long as you plan to stick to one part of the country. [north, south east west etc] then go on and explore the area to bits. there's tons to do every place.
personally i would start with the south. Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have loads of places to visit. historical as well as places to just hang. the people are more educated, friendly and generally more tolerant.
actually it would help to know where you want to travel or what you want to do [mountaineering for eg].
i could go on.
cheers

anzelina, i plan on going towards the end of the year, after october sometime. anyone is welcome to meet me there, it's going to be rough though...
yeah i'm not looking for nightlife. i would'nt mind checking out a crazy bhangra party or something but i want to go see the big cities and explore some rural areas too. i've heard good things about udipi, like it's a vegetarian's paradise o_O
i dig you color site scheme abhi...

cheers zedvox + mexist. glad you like.
if youre a veggie foodie, you couldnt choose better than the south. you've got to stop over at Hampi. there's street food culture everywhere. it'll smell like a million but be wary.
try this. http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.co…
