Finally 8mbit internet access for 50 bucks a month in australia...
about time...
- embarko0
that's brilliant. i'm with iinet at the moment.
- robbob0
it is about time seeing as we have one of the highest internet usage rates per capita in the world. Telstra has been making huge $ of us for too long.
Good news! Goodbye Optus!

Sweeet, when are others expected to pick this up?? Surely it'll be soon.

8mb at 50$? Poor soul.
100mb fiberoptic connections are about 20-30$ a month here.

Well iinet are installing there own hardware into the telstra excahnges to get rid of telstras 1.5mb cap.
I dont think any other providers are doing this...
- slappy0
I think i can live with 3.6 gig per hour downloads

No, AU is still an eternity behind.
Pathetic unlimited download options. Don't get me talking on our pathetic cable TV options/prices either.
- quamb0
yeh we are slow down these parts.
am about to hook up with a new isp with 2 other flatmates - anyone else besides iinet worth looking at?
- slappy0
there are other good places but iinet is the only one offering more than 1.5 mbit because everyone uses telstra exchanges and telstra cap the traffic at 1.5mbit.

I'm with Optus Cable - what's their speed at - anyone.
When I conncet it says 12.0 Mbps
Does that sound right?
- slappy0
I think cable could well be that fast, I cant get cable as there is no cable nearby and i live 5kms from the heart of perth.
adsl is the only viable option.

Ha! I remember when my 'internet' teacher in uni told me that 'some of these business skyskrapers still share dial-up modems'. It's a sick world.

We share a 2Mbit connection between 800 staff at the Boeing HQ. sucks.

im using TPG adsl atm, cheap, relatively reliable, and fast [good enough for me].
Was goin to go with iiNet as they had one of the best deals out, but then TPG came out with their 1.5MB plan for $50 AUD/month
how could u say no to that :]
- robbob0
