I have a G4 733 and last night out of nowhere it started to shut down suddenly. No power. It did it several times and when I was doing different things. It would have power for a bit and then I would be able to power it up. Work for a bit...then bam shut down.
Any ideas?

stupid question but, have you checked that the power cord is securely plugged into the comp?
had a loose connection on an imac (window blinds were hitting power cord each time they were raised and lowered).
mac just lost power out of the blue and on reboot it did it again and completely fried the thing.
i just through it in the dumpster the other day... made me sad.
good luck.

Yes I checked all the connections and ran all the checks I could think of while I could get it to go.
Someone thought it might be:::
"Sounds like a heat problem which would shut the processor down automatically. Maybe one or more fans have stopped working properly or air circulation is impeded in some way... Check this first."

might be a power supply, but 99% of the time, like g man said, check the connection.
i had to help my dad with his home theater set up because he wasn't getting a picture, and i asked him several times if the connections were good. of course after i had to go over to his house, i find the video cable came loose.
hope you get it fixed, i got the same computer and i can't afford a new one right now.
