I did Canada to US via American wife.
We're handling the whole process ourselves. Figured there wasn't much sense in hiring a lawyer when all of the info & forms are online.
As for you, here's the official Canada Immigration site:

I've attempted to bring people into the US before and it sucks. I wish there were an easier way. Paying ~$1,500 for a Fiance visa seems the only alternative for some people, which is a lot.

I dunno whether I'm missing something, but I've live in Sydney for a while now, seen most of S.America and the carribean and N.America and Europe, and I can honestly say that the UK is the best place to live in the world for sooo many reasons. I love seeing the world but I cant wait to get back to London.
For what it's worth loads of people emigrate because they 'hate' where they are from, but then realise that where they have gone isn't so much better.
I think to Emigrate successfully you have to do it for a positive reason not for a negative reason like hating the weather.
Saying that you are from Scotland so the only way is up...

Hey Exador!
Hows life treating you?! Tell me about it - We have such good memories of that trip - it was the best ever - esp meeting up with you guys.
Once we arrive we will defo hook up for another Dungeons and Dragons Session - LOL.
Hope everything is well - esp the wee one and the wife :)
Watch this space.
Dita & Stimuli :)

good statement
- Dita_kz0
I totally agree with you Kezza, you've never lived in Edinburgh - I love the city its beautiful but all the points that Stimuli has rasied were only reasons why we want to leave the UK.
We went to Canada last year and we had such a great feeling about the place. We did our research and we love it more and more as time goes on.
So yes, do emigrate for the right reasons, not the wrong ones. We have too many positive reasons to list why we want to emigrate to Canada - we would probably bore you!!!!.

why do you need to worry about emigration fees?
Isn't Canada still part of Britain? And shouldn't you be able to just go in as out of Canada as you wish, if you have a UK passport?
- JazX0
I would also say, that you do return to your roots as well.
- Dita_kz0
We wish it was that easy!!!! Its part of the commenwealth but not part of the UK.

I do believe I remember kingkezza asking us to look for Rugby tickets in NZ? No? While you were in Argentina?
- Dita_kz0
Yeah we do believe that there would be things we would miss Scotland, but if we don't grab the opportunity now then it will be 'What if?'.
Maybe someday we will return, but one thing we have discussed it we DO NOT want to bring up a family in this country - reasons listed as before.
- toe_knee0
Haha, my mate went to Brazil last year and for the first few months after he returned he’d start nearly every sentence with “In brazil they....”
We always reply with “You were in Brazil..?” He still uses it on the ladies though and it works ;)
- kezza_20
I wish I hadn't bothered with those rugby tickets, england got trounced.
Bringing up kids in Cananda will mean they may have an affinity with French. A good reason to not bother ;)
- JazX0
I C, but still fun to watch I'm sure.
- toe_knee0
I dont think i could raise me kids in australia, it'd be a great lifestyle but the accent.... jazus!
