If you were asked by a major, major, major company to produce a very detailed illustration that (I believe) will go on a product sold internationally, only they claim their budget is a very small fraction of what would normally be charged, would you?
- grafholic0
how small are we talking?
when a major company says "small", i always feel like they're trying to rip people off.
- Gorbie0
you're fairly well established... aren't you? why would you exactly?
or just do it... but tell them you'll only work on it when it's raining outside.
- brooke0
That's how I feel.
Like 1/4 of the MINIMUM I'd charge for such a large company is what's on the table.
- spendogg0
only do 1/4 of the illustration and then see how bad they want the rest.

will the work:
a - pay enough that your not going to go under
b - be something you'll enjoy
c - be worthwhile to the folio
d - do you need the work or you'll be selling your arse on street corners otherwisei find this is a good checklist to help these decisions. the automatic answer would be 'hell no' but there are always exceptions guided by the above list. in my small opinion.

Dont be silly, thats just some cuntfaced cocksucking account handler trying to look good by getting stuff for next to nothing.
$$$ Word to da Herd.

hmm only if i really wante d to do it anyway - u know?
- brooke0
Seems like a fun, but very time-consuming project on a short deadline. No, I don't "need" the money, but the client would be nice to have on the resume...

1/4 - i'd only do it if it provides further benefits such as
-diversifying portofolio
-work will provide future projects/more networking
-the project is fun
-you're doing someone a favor.otherwise, no.

If you dont think its worth it, you should ask em why they are bidding so low
ps, the print i sent you came back.. did you move
- Gorbie0
tell them what you normally charge and go from there.
do you think their prior work resembles the price range their asking?
- pepe0
yeah the three Fs, fame, fortune or fun, try to get any of them or all of them.

I like the list from airey. that sums it up pretty well.
Still its a lot about respect. If they are going into this job without giving you respect you deserve then any future relationship will be hampered my that.
me thinks.
love your work btw brooke.

Bon - I was wondering about that! No, I didn't move, damnit. But over the holidays, almost all the mail that was sent to me was sent back. Ridiculous! Just a glitch in the mail, I guess. Any chance I'll still get one? :)

Thanks, everyone, for all your advice. Olive juice.

They are probably talking you down. Although, it might be great for your resume, I would stick to your belief and pricing. You're too talented.
- BonSeff0
