the whole thing is stupid to me. why cant he dress as a nazi officer? swastikas shouldnt be banned because one political party decided to use it as their symbol.
educate. dont ban.
- unfittoprint0
just because swastikas were used by the nazis doesn't mean should be banned.
see the difference between the true aryans [India] and the regressive/progressive meaing of swastika.
A detail that skipped SS's grahic bureau.

the context of how he wore it was the problem, wearing a uniform of a nazi soldier. if he had worn a white t-shirt with a pink graphic of the symbol, like the ones in the link above from asia, i'm not sure it would have had the same effect.

'I see what you say about the royals and the 'colonial' party, a bit rich.'
- I don't see why not.
Anyway, the whole thing is ludicrously funny - i say 'hats off to the guy', he's the only thing that still keeps me fond of the royalts. AND he's the only properly English royal - not a bloody kraut!
(apologies to my German brothers)

i think harry was being a spoiled little punk who has never had to deal with any consiquences to his actions, therefor made a stupid desicion to wear an offensive article of clothing. of course the swastika has many positive conitations to it, but what he was wearing was the swastika in the german nazi form. that is just wrong.
also i read that prince charles said he was "incandescently angered" by harry's outfit. that made me laugh

how can you ban a symbol?(from the bbc article). that's just rediculous. The swastica symbol is over 3,000 years old. How can we ban it when it was used for 30years by a very unpopular political party?
- Nairn0
oh, and as for 'banning the swastika' - that's the single-most ignorant and ridiculous idea ever - to think that an ancient universal symbol (of essentially simple geometric design) should pay for a nation's and people's guilt by it's censor would be laughable, if it did not indicate the misgivings our parent state evidently has in us!
How the fuck can quashing an idea make it seem any less romantic and relevant?
To think we allow these fools to keep us in their charge! We PAY for this privilage!
- k0na_an0k0
ok. so for all of you that work full time for any company, go to work tomorrow dressed the same way and wonder why as you're escorted out with a pink slip they made such a fuss.
think.
- blackspade0
"the context of how he wore it was the problem"
exactly
he didnt think, so bad luck dumbass
Dont think I would wear a swastika, even as a dress-up
- blackspade0
anyone have a link to that store in Japan with the whole nazi range?, they had huge symobls in the store etc
- k0na_an0k0
blackspade if you just called me a dumbass i'd like you to punch yourself in the ear for me please.

I still think harry was equating the british colonial past to naziism. in a post-ironic way of course.

That would be pure genious.I still find it odd that the press are more concerned about a rogue swastika, and less concerned about the fact that a fancy dress party was attended by several senior members of the royal family with a theme of "colonials and natives" where several party-goers attended as native Africans with blacked up faces.
- Nairn0
Well, I wouldn't fire anyone. But hey.
No, in fact - fuck it - If people are too fucking idle to pay attention to context in these situations then they should just shut the fuck up
- It was a fucking fancy dress party
- he's 19 years of age
- Nazi costumes are freely available for such events
- the war was half a century ago, and the detail is mere symbology.Jesus, if he weren't a royal, no one would give a shit. And just because he's a royal, I genuinely don't see why everyone pays that much attention.

Political Correctness über alles.

i duno its a party not a rally.
I remember nazi fashion in korea and japan and hong kong...wtf was that! haha, MOBS of asian nazis on motorcycles, Im looking fwd to going back....................
- blackspade0
Kona, lol, na man I was agreeing with you
" he didnt think, so bad luck dumbass"
referring to harry, ..my bad
- max_prophet0
why shouldn't people dress up as native africans with blacked up faces? Afterall, native africans are in fact black. You can tell by looking at their faces and seeing that they are black.
- silencer0
lol Max Prophet!
