curious what everybody thinks...

nice color scheme. but you know what many people think about popups. I kinda wished that I could close each popup window by clicking anywhere on it (instead of the X only).
Just a suggestion.
oh yeah, are you going to keep the lorem ipsum text there, or replace it with something else?

how bout we trade...since no one wants to crit the site I put up this morning..
http://www.infusionproject.com
you can post your crit in the Infusion Project 2005 thread ;Pyour crit:
I like it a lot. Only thing that really doesnt fit as far as I'm concerned is the display of the portfolio. It's kind of annoying the way it opens on top of the sub nav, and sometimes directly over the subnav. For some reason the two fonts youve chosen seem a little off when placed together, I really like the sans font you are using btw. Also the color of your links (orange), maybe try em in a green to compliment the logo?
Great site man.

i think it's a little annoying reading the lorem ipsum...
i like the simplicity of it though. maybe it would work if you had some kind of real statement, or quote with the rollovers worked in, instead of making us read a bunch of jibber jabber!
i agree about the work covering the nav at times too. but, nice work inside!

dippy, i was actually just about to do that :)
iDP, don't you hate when people don't crit something you ask them to? thanks for your comments :) i'll get over to your thread right now. lemme think about your comments and see what to do. thanks man

gabe, thanks man. maybe let me explain the "lorem ipsum" and maybe it will make more sense. the idea is pretty much the work is coming out of a concept. ya know? maybe it's a little too far fetched... i just thought it would be cool to use lorem ipsum since it's such an integral part of design. that's kinda where it all starts... stupid and should be changed or no? :)
- gabe0
to me, i guess it depends on a few things...
if your site is purely for your own satisfaction, then by all means keep it.
for me though, it was annoying to actually be trying to read the text and make sense of it, even though i knew where you were headed with it anyway.
plus there's not much contrast between the white text and the tan background which probably added to the agitation.
i just think it would be a little more appropriate, and a little less confusing to be a little more straightforward. another thing to keep in mind is if you are sending this site out as your personal portfolio, in hopes of possibly landing a job interview, (unfortunately) a lot of times, as i'm sure you know, they end up heading through some sort of HR dept. before they even make it to the creative dept...
who knows what the typical HR persons going to make of all that latin!
- dippy0
lorem ipsum is a sort of a designer's inside joke. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's an "integral part of design." It's sorta just filler. And since it's just filler, people tend to ignore it. It's not real content.
But that's not what you want visitors to think about your site. You want them to think that it's worth reading every word, because everything about your site is interesting and provocative and worthy of being put on the site.
If this sounds like rambling, it's because it's frickin 2:30 in the AM

yeah I'd dump the lorem. I get what you are trying to do with it, but lets say you are lookng for a job and a creative director looks at your site. The first thing I think of when I see good ol' Lorem is 'unfinsihed'. Maybe come up with a ficticious passage, or find a really good quote and do the same thing that you are doing now, highlight the words you want to have reveal themselves as yuor links.
- dippy0
I meant everything about your site SHOULD be interesting and provocative and worthy of being put on the site.
In the real world, we (especially me) forget to do that.

hehe yeah. totally right about all that HR bullshit. but, yeah, this site is for my own satisfaction. i have a job and i'm not going anywhere for a while. this site is all about me. that's also why i'm keeping the portfolio items over the nav and stuff. i don't mean that to be disrespectful in the least bit, i'm just saying that's really what i saw in my "vision" for the site, and since this site is all about me, i'm gonna be true to myself. ya dig it?
gabe, get on efnet for old times sake. in webdesign. comon it'll be fun
- fate0
looks decent but I don't like the mystery-meat navigation.
- abstrakt0
thanks fate. the lorem ipsum you mean, right? i guess nobody is really liking it. i'll try and write something cool :) thanks guys
