We'll be up there on Monday for the New Year. We're planning on simply walking around, getting aquainted with the neighborhoods before our big move in 6 months.
But is there anything special we can look forward to while we're there, besides the weather? Any hidden treasures in the great Chi-town? Any particular events happening on the 31st?

of course the xmas tree and fields on the magnificent mile. cliche' yes but it really is a sight. also there is a skate park on michigan avenue that if it's not too cold is quite a trip ice skating downtown chicago.
there is a nice restaurant in the john hancock building that gives you a breathtaking view of the city.
what hood you moving into?

Thank you, Kona!
We're looking to move into a house somewhere above the loop, specifically in or around Wrigleyville.
What do you know about the Ukranian village?

Hey Brooke, I just moved from Chicago. I lived in the Ukranian Village for a number of years. IMO it's the best place to live in the city. Wriggleyville is great if you like fratboys and hate to find convinient parking. Lots of shopping there, though.
Uk.Village is more chill and diverse, great bars, nice housing stock and big trees. You are further from the lake, but that's the only downside in my book.
Have a good time.
