A client gave me a cd of images I'll be using.
The image is a 34 meg tif file and when I open it in photoshop it opens at about 200x200 px at 72dpi.
Is this some type of raw format? How do I open the file? It seems to only be opening a preview or thumbnail...

1. are u using ps cs? cs is the only supporter of raw files unless you have the camera software.
2. what is the file extention is it like CRW_1234.CRW or CRW_1234.TIFF?
raw files can be expanded, to any dpi to almost any size.. if they say they are 34mg each, they seem to be raw... if the whole disk is 34mg, then he gave you 200x200 72dpi jpgs. which you cant do anything with but web.

Thanks guys...
I discovered the problem. It was a raw tif.
The client shot the photo with one of those wheels off expensive Phase One camera backs that mounts to a Hasselblad.
Photoshop won't recognize the format, but it will open a preview. The whole thing required downloading the trial software from Phase One which, is kind of a cool program. Its much like the raw converter from PS, but it works as a standalone app.

By the way, PS cs won't recognize phase one's raw format and neither would the DNG converter...
I guess the phase one stuff is priced so high they don't care about compatibility...
